One Room Challenge – Spring 2021, Week 8 - The Reveal!
The day has arrived! It’s Reveal Day and I couldn’t be more excited! Thank you for following along with me, as I share more about our design process and the step by step transformation of my primary bedroom and bathroom! The last eight weeks have been an amazing experience and although there were many hiccups and quick thinking moments along the way, I had so much fun in the process. Ultimately, we were able to push through to the finish line and create a oasis even more beautiful then I could have imagined!
Before getting to the after… I wanted to reflect on the process and share a few thank yous. First, to my husband, my life and business partner, Jake thank you for not only working beside me in this challenge but making sure we complete the challenge on time. You and your construction team are amazing and you’re just getting started! I absolutely could not do this without you. To our children, who not only had to deal with the craziness of our house being in a complete disarray… lol. But they also stepped in to put in some sweat equity in the final phases… thank you. A huge thank you to Linda Weinstein, the founder of the One Room Challenge, for pioneering such a great challenge that showcases so many amazing and talented designers and bloggers. Having an opportunity to be a Featured Designer is a dream come true! Thank you to Better Home and Gardens for signing on again as the media sponsor of the ORC. A special thank you to our corporate sponsors who provided all of the beautiful furniture and materials that you are about to see, It has been amazing working with your products and teams to make this happen. Lastly, I want to thank our readers for following along, engaging, and giving encouragement throughout this process.
Okay, so before taking you into the final reveal I want to remind us of where we started 8 weeks ago. 🙈
Not terrible, but definitely room for improvement. In last week's blog I shared the Installation phase of our process and some of the challenges faced especially coming out of a pandemic (out of stock items, scheduling of very busy contractors, etc.) and the blogs beforehand covered all of the previous phases of our install process including; The Consultation, Design Development, Procurement and Project Management. Now, after eight weeks we have a corner of our home that matches me and my husband’s functional needs while fitting our evolved aesthetic.
If you missed any of the previous blog posts you can read them here:

To take you back… the story of my bedroom starts like most others. We have brought a few items over the years; a bed here and a lamp there... and held on to some furniture for what seems like forever… i.e. our dresser and nightstands are almost 15 years old... But we haven’t been really intentional and purposeful about designing the space and it was time for an update!
Finally, the dust has settled and the renovation is complete. I can't believe we are finally here! All of the sleepless nights and all of patience needed along the way, were totally worth it!
Lastly, as I reflect on this project I am reminded of what the client journey is. Uncertainty as you begin the project, excitement when the design plan is developed, lots of patience waiting for materials and furniture to arrive, even inconvenience during the construction process… excitement again when walls are up or paint is on the wall… Then the reveal! It’s a rollercoaster! But in the end it’s all worth it! A dream come true. That’s exactly how I feel when I take a look around my new space! The transformed space is now our oasis, a welcomed combination of luxury and livability that I literally fall in love with it every time I walk through the door at the end of a long day! In the end, this transformation has become a wellness retreat that we are truly thankful for!
Drum roll please… Here is our new bedroom and en-suite bathroom.

When it comes to these big reveals it's always amazing to me seeing a concept on a design board, slowly installing rooms piece by piece, and finally taking in the room in full with fresh eyes. And the person that is able to capture this look through a lens is Brian Wetzel. His work not only captures the true beauty of the room but also the hidden gems of the space. He is such an amazing photographer and I really enjoy collaborating with him on my projects.
I can finally say that my house feels like a complete home. I’m almost in tears seeing this all come to an end. After a long work week hubby and I can disconnect and relax in our own personal oasis. The end result is so luxurious that I try not to blink too much so that I won't miss taking it all in.
Be sure to follow along on social media for more behind the scenes content, more reveal photos and I am also working on a video tour of the space and can’t wait to share that with you.
I hope you love it. Drop a line below to tell me what you think! Thank you being apart of this year’s One Room Challenge journey!
