House Beautiful Whole Home 2023 !!

We are so excited to announce our partnership with House Beautiful. Earlier this year Gray Space along with a handful of other amazing designers were asked to take part in the annual House Beautiful Whole Home Concept showhouse. The home is a 14,000-square-foot landmark property located in Hinsdale, Illinois. We were immediately inspired by the home’s exquisite architecture and the land surrounding the property. Finding out that all of the designers chosen for the home redesign are women gave us the idea to continue celebrating femininity and create a ladies' suite that includes an entry hall, salon/parlor, and bedroom.  The suite is now a #softlife sanctuary where you will find a space to unwind, connect, and indulge in moments of quiet camaraderie.

Mood Board

The home's property and the idea of femininity helped us begin designing. We wanted to design with Lifestyle in mind. We selected furniture based on the function of each space and the lifestyle of the homeowners and not what we would expect each room to be traditionally. For example, because the salon overlooks the beautiful grounds in the rear of the home, we selected a chaise lounge to allow for nature watching and stargazing.  We were inspired by the greenery outside which led us to use turquoise with feminine accents throughout this space. Some small details we are so excited to show will be our Radiator window seat in the salon/parlor /sitting room. Again we wanted to really accentuate the view of the property with the window seat allowing someone to sit and look out the window.

Wallpaper was something we wanted to really indulge in throughout the design. As you enter the suite you're greeted by a wallpaper by Phillip Jefferies called, Sky. We selected this paper in this dark hallway without windows to bring the outdoors in and to introduce you to the idea of bringing the outdoors in, which is fully realized in the large window in the next room, the salon, that overlooks the grounds. In the bedroom, we wanted to create a serene and whimsical mood that's rooted in femininity. So we selected AFlutter by PJ as butterflies represent freedom, beauty and rebirth. Walls are a room's largest surface area, so what you place on the walls will dramatically transform the space.
